When asked to describe her personal style, Ysabella quoted Donatella Versace and said "personal." Then after careful contemplation and lots of umms later, she was able to expand her answer. She stated that her style depended greatly on on her mood, but that she was a fan of "small pops of colors in accessories or shoes," and "gold and silver mostly as jewelry." She most often leans towards whites, blacks, neutrals, staple colors, so that she doesn't "look like a crayon."

How is your style different from others?

It's me, I made it. It definitely comes from a very personal place and definitely has to be, as much as I can make it, unique to myself and my personality. It needs to be an extension go myself and my own self expression. Most of my clothing is not bought at mainstream places so on very very very very rare occasions I might look or might own something that someone else has, but it's definitely not going to be used, at least I hope not, the way they use it cause I try to reach within myself.

How do you feel about “trends?”

Anna Wintour once said (paraphrasing) trends/trendy is an ugly word, and I was like yuh, you right. Trends are just too restricting. They make someone conform and encourage conformity and conventionalism too much. Style and fashion are very very different from being well dressed... style is in a more personal, unique, authentic, genuine context.

What fashion brands/names/icons influence the way you choose to dress on a daily basis?

I recently found a website called the Sartorialist, it's a great website. Lately I've been feeling like I want to be more androgynous. So, like any stylish man- Cody Fern. alex Turner, Marc Jacobs, or any other well dressed dudes. Rosalia has been inspiring me. I want to wear, like, and excessive amount of gold jewelry, but obviously don't have the money to be buying all that gold jewelry so I have to make it work. The other side is having this fair of Latin femininity. I like the way Childish Gambino, Donald Glover, dresses. I definitely like the Italian brands.

Does the way you dress affect your mood/mentality for that specific day? How so?

I definitely feel more powerful when I wear certain colors to certain shapes and silhouettes of clothing. Or more feminine, or more chill and relaxed. Like on Friday when I wore my Harley Davidson's with my black jacket and leopard longsleeve and my gold jewelry and my bling-y ringies and my snazzy loafers, I felt like "that bitch" in that whole context. It's usually that empowered dressing, mainly with the color black, of course, I'll feel like I can kill someone with a glance. Dressing the right way can help you feel more confident and more sociable because you know you look good and you're not afraid to show the world.

What statement do you think your style gives others who see you? What do you hope it says?

I definitely feel like it gives the impression that I know who I am. Even though I can be pretty shy or reserved and introverted, I can still give the impression that I'm still pretty confident in my self expression and my inner person.

Does your biological background/ identity have any bearing on your style and the way you dress daily?

I've been trying to make a stronger connection to my culture in college, being that I'm hours away from where I grew up, where all the culture is. I'm trying to show a little bit more Latin flair into what could be like stylish white girl dressing, and trying to add something that maybe a latin person would add. But making it my own.

Ysabella says:

Go minimalist- wear an itty-bitty choker- or maximalist- layer necklaces-for a sprinkle of wow factor

If pants have a belt loop, wear a good belt to compliment your outfit. Your outfit can look empty until you add a belt.

Long neck? Wear dangly earrings

Add a pop of color to balance your outfit
